Winter Places 2.0
A winter placemaking guide and report.
Winter Placemaking for Main Streets & Neighborhoods
In 2020, Bench Consulting and Patronicity, along with designers from across North America and around the world, proposed creative ideas for quickly implementable, low-cost winter placemaking interventions aimed at driving visitors back to Main Street and encouraging them to stay longer, supporting area restaurants and businesses. Nearly 4,000 individuals and organizations from around the world downloaded the guide. We heard from individuals from Michigan, Massachusetts, Canada, Finland, and Russia about their work to implement ideas directly from the Winter Places Guide.
Winter Places 2.0 is an update to the guide focusing on project reports from 12 communities across Massachusetts that implemented winter placemaking projects directly inspired by the original Winter Places guide utilizing funding support generously provided by the Barr Foundation.
